The two books, (launched seperatly in two different occuations), had "Hamas, from resistance to government" as a sub-title. The authors, the publishers (John wiely and Sons UK, and PASSIA), and us at the Educational Bookshop would like to thank the hundrends who turned up at both events, we will continue to open our premises for any book author or book lover who wish to launch, read or discuss his/her wrirtings. 4th May 2010 Under the spot light of the Israeli media, againIn his recent article, Danny Rubinstein, a destinguished Israeli journalist wrote about the Palestinian economy and book trade. Rubinstein used the Educatoinal Bookshop new venture and their local events as an example of growing indusry, despite the lack of copywrite law enforcment, and the financial difficulties. For the last ten years, the Educational Bookshop representatives have been a regular visitors and contributors to this international gathering. The vist will strengthen the relationship between the EB and the publishing industry in the United Kingdom. 12th April 2010 New book launch in Al-Quds NewspaperFollowing the success of yesterday book launch, Alquds newspaper (locally, the most established mainstream newspaper) has featured the event within its pages. A series of events took place at both institution venues. Imad Muna EB MD said: “It is an absolute pleasure to work with the French Cultural Centre at this occasion; we are not only good neighbours, but also organizations committed to the advancement of culture and the expansion of knowledge”. Click here to download the programme. 10th March 2010 More than one Hundred of Jerusalem residents attended Jerusalem Moments a "7 Short Documentary Films screening" last weekThough not a surprise, the heavily attended event marked another bright star in Jerusalem cultural life skies. The organizers had to arrange for another two screens! to accommodate the turn out. Keep an eye on this site for future events. 22nd Febuary 2010 The Educational Bookshop is featured in Maariv (Israel second largest) daily newspaper ...Surprisingly, the right wing newspaper allocated 2 double pages for the story of the Educational Bookshop, although 3-months after the opening of the EB new premises, "Maariv" editors seem unable to ignore the importance of this development in East Jerusalem any longer! The visit, organized by the Syrian Ministry of Culture will help to strengthen the EB relationship with the different Syrian and Lebanese publishers. 16th January 2010

We help you see more of Jerusalem...We are launching new social and educational programmes: every month, we will organize several guided walks and tours in and around the city of Jerusalem, aimed at discovering the sleeping beauty of the city, its charming attractions, and the intense history behind its stones. Our first guided tour date will be announced soon, but we now know that it will cover the city's main historical gates (Herod’s, Damascus and Jaffa); the tour will also stop at several imperative stations. 21st November 2010
Our new home is open ...Several hundreds of Jerusalemites, foreign residents of the city, representatives of European Community and handful of Journalists have joined the Educational Bookshop owners and staff at last night's opening of their new premises at 19 Salah Eddin Street. Several authors and dignitaries attended the inauguration, including father Attalah Hanna, Raja Shehadeh, Jeff Halper, Amira Hass and Ray Dolphin amongst other community leaders and public figures. In his speech, father Hanna spoke strongly about the central role of the book in the “Jerusalemites’ cultural resistance”, he saluted the Educational Bookshop for their “phenomenal initiatives and efforts” and he encouraged the youngsters of the city to take this unique opportunity and make full use of the premises and it functions. The new books @ café premises will be open seven days a week, from 8am to 10pm. Featuring a wide selection of books, french pastries and Italian coffee, the new venture will also prepare a quick breakfast menu and fresh homemade sandwiches. |
